Melanie is a seasoned professional in the insurance and financial services sectors, bringing over 30 years of industry experience. She is a Louisiana Tech University graduate, originally from Calhoun, Louisiana. As a dedicated mother of two and grandmother of five, Melanie’s commitment to a client-centered philosophy is evident in her unwavering service to the community.

After a decade-long career in education and serving in various state, federal, and corporate positions, Melanie founded Common Sense Insurance Agency & Consulting, LLC in Monroe, LA. Her mission is to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their healthcare and financial futures.

Melanie is certified as a Healthcare Reform and Medicare Specialist, as well as a Financial Estate Planning Consultant. She has conducted more than 300 educational seminars and has personally assisted over 900 clients. Her agency represents premier insurance carriers in multiple states and oversees a network of licensed agents spanning 14 states. Melanie’s expertise extends to educating clients on a variety of insurance products, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplements, Prescription Drug Plans, Hospital Indemnity, Cancer, Critical Illness, Life, Health (individual, small group, and large group), Dental, Vision, Annuities, and Long-Term Care policies.

She builds strong partnerships with healthcare providers, senior centers, churches, and community organizations. Melanie’s service has been acknowledged by educational institutions, government bodies, and nonprofits. She is also a sought-after speaker for businesses, religious organizations, and nonprofit events.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Melanie is actively engaged in community leadership and volunteer work. She serves as President of the Monroe West Monroe Business Professional Women’s Organization and is a member of the West Monroe-West Ouachita, Monroe, and Northeast Regional Chambers of Commerce.
